Code of Conduct

Last updated: May 15, 2025

Our mission is to create a safe, supportive space where AI-native builders, founders, and indie hackers connect, collaborate, and grow together. Whether you’re here to launch, learn, or vibe-code in public, we’re committed to maintaining a community grounded in mutual respect and curiosity.

Give More Than You Take

To support the growth of our members, we provide a place to share ideas, ask questions, and find answers. This requires collaboration and a spirit of generosity.

We ask that you contribute to building a high-quality environment by aiming to give more than you take.

Rather than focusing on what you can gain from the community or how to leverage it for personal benefit, we encourage you to share your knowledge, experiences, and insights freely—without expectation of payoff. Communities thrive when people lead with value.

How to Get the Most from CoHack

  • Show up regularly – Join discussions, ask questions, share updates, and celebrate progress.
  • Use the right channels – Each space has a purpose (support, feedback, launch, general chat). Help keep the community organized.
  • Be curious – Don’t be afraid to ask questions. No one knows everything, and that’s the point.
  • Build in public – Share what you’re working on, including messy drafts and experiments. You’ll get better feedback and inspire others.
  • Support others – Give thoughtful feedback, react to launches, and offer help when someone is stuck.

Community Values

These principles guide how we show up here every day:

  • Transparency – We share our work, questions, and learnings honestly—even when unfinished.
  • Generosity – We give first, with no expectation of return.
  • Respect – We honor all perspectives, especially those different from our own.
  • Experimentation – We embrace iteration, learning in public, and progress over perfection.
  • Curiosity – We’re lifelong learners who ask why, not just how.
  • Belonging – We want everyone to feel safe and welcome, regardless of identity, background, or experience level.

Be Kind, Always

  • Treat everyone with empathy, patience, and respect—regardless of background, skill level, or opinions.
  • Encourage growth. Give constructive feedback, not harsh criticism.
  • Assume good intent, and be quick to clarify misunderstandings.

Build Together, Not at Each Other’s Expense

  • Celebrate wins—big and small. Cheer others on, and share your own milestones with humility.
  • Don’t spam, pitch uninvited DMs, or self-promote in inappropriate channels.
  • Engage to connect, not to extract. Relationships first, value second.

Respect Privacy & Boundaries

  • Keep private conversations private—no screenshots or reposting without consent.
  • Respect people’s limits, both in public and private conversations.
  • Use content warnings or spoiler tags when necessary.

Zero Tolerance for Harassment

We do not tolerate:

  • Harassment, hate speech, discrimination, or bullying
  • Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or ableist behavior
  • Threats, intimidation, or personal attacks
  • Unwanted sexual conduct or advances

Violations will result in warnings or bans at the discretion of the moderation team.

Use AI Responsibly

  • Be clear when sharing AI-assisted or AI-generated work.
  • Don’t use AI to impersonate others or spread misinformation.
  • Share tools responsibly and in alignment with ethical use.

All in-person and virtual events are covered by this Code of Conduct.

  • Be respectful, inclusive, and open to diverse perspectives.
  • Do not engage in disruptive, intoxicated, or inappropriate behavior.
  • Moderators and event hosts may remove any participant violating these guidelines.
